Opportunities

In response to God’s love, we serve the Lord with gladness!

Redeemer offers a wide variety of opportunities for Christian service.  Here are just a few ways you can get involved:

  • Help prepare food bags for the homeless
  • Play handbells
  • Set up for activities such as the church picnic, Christmas concert or Spring tea
  • Use handy-man skills for church maintenance
  • Sing with the choir
  • Create keepsakes for nursing home residents
  • Join a Bible study group
  • Assist the church office with simple tasks
Understanding Spiritual Gifts
A “spiritual gift” is a special attribute given by the Holy Spirit to every member of God’s family, the “Body of Christ”.  According to God’s grace, these gifts are to be used for the building up of his Church. (Psalm 51:18; Romans 7:4; 1 Corinthians 12:1-30; Ephesians 4:12, 29)

Each member of Christ’s Body has been given unique gifts and therefore a special place in the Church.  God delights in each one of us and in each of our different gifts (Isaiah 43:1).

Examples of spiritual gifts include administration, exhortation, faith, giving, helping, hospitality, knowledge, leadership, showing mercy, proclamation, service, teaching, and wisdom.

We are called to build up the Church through our spiritual gifts, especially the gift of faith in the Word of God – and the response of faith: love of God and love of neighbor. (1 Corinthians 12:13; Galatians 5:6; 1 Thessalonians 5:8)
Understanding Christian Vocation
God serves through us!  As members of God’s family, we share God’s love with others as we serve them.  A person’s many Christian vocations may include being a husband or wife, a father or mother, a son or daughter, a friend, a neighbor, a coworker, a mentor or a volunteer in the community.  Through our Christian vocation, God provides us with opportunities, large and small, to make a difference in the lives of others.
